Pilates is Power!

Pilates has brought Power into my life! Last year I began a consistent weekly Pilates practice and after only a few weeks I noticed great improvements in my core strength and overall athletic abilities. My yoga practice was becoming stronger, my posture was improving, even my running was improving! The targeted exercise of Pilates was bringing great power to my health and allowing me to improve the daily activities that I love.

Pilates focusses on building core strength. EVERY exercise is focused on the breath and properly activating the core with the breath . Learning to utilize our core muscles improves our balance, posture and overall daily lifestyle. Whether you are an athlete looking to improve your sport or if you are simply wanting to improve balance for your daily activities, Pilates will help you reach your goals. The Sun Rock Yoga Studio in St George Utah is dedicated to bring you the best instruction possible. We want to support you in reaching your fitness goals.

The thing I love about Pilates is that everyone can do it! In the beginning we start with modified exercises and then build to more challenging movements as our strength improves. The exercises are slow and mindful so there is no pressure to be have great athletic abilities. The props are a great assist and they allow you to steadily make progress at your own pace. You will be truly amazed at how these core targeted exercises will change your body composition by adding muscle tone and definition. Give Pilates a try. Add some power to your life! Join us at Sun Rock Yoga for Classic Mat Pilates instruction- it just might change your life! ;)

Yoga- Mind, Body and Soul.... Have you heard that before?

Yoga is Good for your Mind, Body and Soul.

Do you ever get tired of hearing how All-Encompassing Yoga is for You? During my yoga teacher training I worried that I would get sick of all the hoopla and hokey things that yoga claimed to do… but, the more I learned about yoga- and the more I experienced yoga- the more I came to Love Yoga! And all the “hoopla” and  “hokey” stuff turned out to be true! Yoga really does help your Body, Mind and Soul!

Practicing yoga is an excellent physical workout that builds strength, balance and even endurance. It is also an amazing way to work on flexibility and teach proper body alignment. All of this working together allows for better posture , better movement, and an all-around better way of life.

Deep breathing exercises practiced in yoga brings extra oxygen to the body and brain, causing deeper relaxation and greater focus to what you are accomplishing in the present moment. This is good practice not only during an intense workout but in our day to day life.

Yoga has a spiritual aspect that is extremely positive. No matter your religious beliefs or non-religious beliefs we can all meet in Yoga and talk about positivity, light, work to improve ourselves, and help others along the way. The positive thoughts, actions, and speech we practice in Yoga are powerful! The optimism you feel in a yoga class will change your day—it could change your life!

I love the community of Sun Rock Yoga in St George Utah because of the acceptance I feel among everyone. The group at the Sun Rock Yoga Studio are accepting, fun and each individual is uniquely different- this allows us to learn from one another's differences and also unite on the things we have in common. This is truly the definition of community.

The meditation pose we call Savasana at the end of each class is heavenly for some and also extremely hard for others. This pose takes practice. But, when you master the ability to slow down, to breath and just be still—I promise you will feel a sense of truly being connected -Mind, Body and Soul – and then you will know for yourself that the “hokey” claims of yoga are All True!
Namaste:)
